The Bilsdale Point to Point held their meeting on Saturday at Easingwold, which saw some very talented horses turn up to take part thanks to some fantastic racing conditions.
The most competitive race of the day was the Mixed Open race and saw some class horses take part, however the race went to one of the outsiders Over To Joe who was partnered by Miles Seston. Always disputing the lead, Seston and his mount led three out and under a forceful ride powered home to win well, Quinta De Lobo recorded by far a career best in second and was the only real challenger to the winner, whilst First Fought stayed on for third. Over To Joe disappointed round this track two weeks previously, however with much drier conditions to suit and the strong handling of Miles Seston, stayed on well here.
Another one who benefited for dryer conditions was Sea Senor who made virtually all of the running in the Confined race under Max Johnson. Sea Senor jumped with much more fluency than usual and stayed on very well to win a shade cosy. Quechua Des Obeaux travelled well through out the race and moved to challenge three out, however could never quite reach the leader and finished second. Fox Point ran another good race back in third.
The Restricted race provided a dramatic finish as lucky winner Sutton came home in front for Jake Greenall. The heavily backed favourite was well held in third, until the two leaders Darren and Lewesdon Duchess departed independently two out, leaving Sutton clear to beat Brother Mark who made a lot of the early running. Nothing Left who was prominent early on finished third.
The Hunt Members race turned into a match race between the two veterans Bobby Buttons and Fairy Skin Maker, however it did not go the way the bookies anticipated as Fairy Skin Maker tracked leader Bobby Buttons for most of the race and quickened past entering the straight to win by a length and double up on last years victory in this race.
One of the most impressive performances on the day came in the Open Maiden race which saw Sharmon make all the running for Chris Dawson and seemingly thrived on this better ground today, the pair came home to win on the bridle by six lengths. Lewesdon Tom who was in rear for a lot of the race stayed on extra well in the final stages and took second, whilst Tigerific, who was prominent for a lot of the race, could not live with Sharmons furious gallop, however stuck on for third. Sharmon who is a big strong gelding by Terimon, was given to owner/trainer Bob Woodhouse as a 4yo to break in and looks to have a bright future.
Charlotte Cundall continues to climb her way up the jockeys title by winning the Novice Riders race aboard her fathers horse Major Shark who looks to be thriving now the blinkers have been removed. The pair were well in rear but made good progress through out the race and joined the long time leader Basic Fact three out, Charlotte then drove her mount out to the finish and won well, Basic Fact was back in second whilst favourite Queen Of Diamonds dead heated for third with Astral Prince.
The final race was another Open Maiden race and this time went to the home bred Beau Traveller who is owned and trained by Bianca Dunk. The winner was always prominent and stayed on well to win for Jason Bewley who was recording his second point to point victory, whilst the winning trainer was recording her first. Bianca Dunk works for Chris Dawson, however finds time to train her horses in her spare time. Essenbee made some of the early running but stayed on into second, whilst eye catcher Buscky Run stayed on well from the back to take third on only his second appearance.
