GELLIGAER FARMERS
BONVILSTON
SATURDAY 8
MAY 2004
by Colin Cross

Lee Stephens was the man in form at Bonvilston last Saturday with a hatrick with SILVER CASTLE in the Intermediate, CHANCY GUY in the Confined and ROSTOCK in the Mixed Open.

Malcolm Jones seems to have a winner at every meeting at present and FLOCKMASTER and Charlotte Owen kept up the run in the Members race. RAG WEEK and Evan Williams made all the running to land the Restricted from BATCHWORTH LOCK and ROBOASTAR.

NEWMARKET MAGIC was almost certainly a fortunate winner of division one of the maiden under Dai Jones. BLACK HOPE had the race in safe keeping when coming down at the penultimate fence.

One of the gambles of the season was landed in Division 2 when CLEAR AWAY and Tim Vaughan won as he liked form DUNMANUS SOUND. The seven year old was backed from 5/1 to 5/4 fav. And the money was only lent to the Bookmakers.

CLEAR AWAY had only one run under Rules finishing fourth over hurdles in 2002 when trained by Paddy Murphy. Abby Johns has done a first class job with the gelding who can win again this term.

It’s been a good week for Abby who won the flat race on DOC RYAN’S at the Countryside Alliance Meeting at Chepstow.

There’s no racing in Wales this weekend but the Golden Valley meeting at Bredwardine on Saturday is well worth a visit, first race 1 p.m.
