Ken and John Heard’s Bill Me Up won the national Chase Young Horse Award after a win in the South Tetcott Intermediate at Lifton on Monday. Colin Heard rode the horse to victory and the owners win £1,000 and a trophy worth £300 which will be presented at Stratford Racecourse on Friday.
The long time leader in the national leader board, Involved from the North Western area, also ran over the weekend but pulled up when in with a chance of third place. Third place would have secured the title for the owner R French. Bill Me Up takes the Devon and Cornwall title.

Mrs Be won the Men’s Open at Lifton under Alex Charles Jones and the victory gave the Ollie Bush-trained horse the Wessex Area Chase Young Horse Award title.

Phoenix Phlyer was back to form and won the ladies race for Charlotte Stucley. One to look out for here is third placed Guru Rinpoche who at last got the rewards for owner Paul Tylor’s confidence.

Mark Shears won the last two races, the maidens on board Rich Return at 50-1 - and Liberty Livelihood and there was another long priced winner Mandy Hand on 25-1 shot Silver Man in the Restricted.

County Bash has been in superb form this year and notched up her fourth win under Lucy Gardner.
